Getting married and taking part in the wedding ceremony is one of life's big adventures, and like all adventures, needs careful planning to be successful.
You must submit a Notice of Intended Marriage form to a registered celebrant at least a month and a day before you plan to get married. This form is available from your celebrant, or on line at the web site of the Federal Attorney General’s Department.
For your interview with a celebrant, you will need to have your birth certificates if you were born in Australia, or overseas passport otherwise. If appropriate bring documentation of divorce or death of former partner.
If you don't have this documentation, you may not be able to be married, so speak to your celebrant about how to obtain it.
A new wedding certificate came into force on 1st September 2005 - make sure your celebrant uses this one as it could cause problems with identification in the future.
I have stocks of them and will ensure they are printed with calligraphy.
If you choose me as your celebrant, I will help tailor a wedding ceremony especially for you. There is no “one-size fits all” solution, and I will work closely with you to customise the ceremony to include all of the elements you want.
Although I have many ready-made examples available, I encourage couples to personalise them with my help if necessary.
Most of these elements are optional, apart from identifying the couple, the monitum, the vows and the signing. There is more information on this page. Wedding Format...>
